WE'RE GOING FOR GOLD!
AND HERE'S THE REASON WHY

In December of last year we announced that we were going to produce a 2009 Silver Anniversary 5 Piece Price Guide Presentation Set to celebrate the fact that after introducing Australian Price Guides in 1985 under the title "Carter's Price Guide to Antiques in Australia" the 2009 Alan Carter Price Guide would be the 25th major Price Guide that the Carter Family had produced.

Well... in the middle of this year John Furphy Pty. Ltd. announced that they were producing a "Silver Anniversary" edition of "Carter's Price Guide", under the claim that they are the "Original" Carter's because they now own the name, having acquired it 4 years ago in May of 2004. (Not from the Carter Family).

So... we thought, having two "Silver Anniversary" Price Guides put out by rival companies, both using the name "Carter" in their titles, might tend to cause a bit of confusion. That being the case, we decided to change tack and celebrate the fact that I've been in the antiques and collectables trade for 50 YEARS, having opened my fi rst stall in London's Portobello Road the age of 17. Before that I worked for an antique dealer, and after opening the stall I've spent all of my life involved in the trade.

Anyway... Gold is now our colour for the 2009 Alan Carter Price Guide Presentation Set and it looks 10 times more spectacular than silver. And we all know, don't we, that to win gold you have to be the best there is? And that's what we intend our 2009 Price Guide to be.

Really... we've come a long way since those early days in the '80s when it seemed like a lottery, reuniting 10,000 photos with their descriptions, which were hung randomly around the office walls (and oh! all those 20 hour days).

But... it's all been a joint effort down through the years, between our work at this end and your support at that end. It's been an amazing journey so far, it culminates in this Golden Set and you are going to be the winners.
